The longest ever reverse on a motorcycle world record attempt and open day/season closing party!

At the beginning of this year we got carried away with #Adventuary (a #GetOutDoStuff adventure challenge) and we pledged to break the world record for the longest ever reverse on a motorcycle!

We spent a while trying to being able to make it happen on the road but alas that seems impossible (probably for good reason) so instead we are going to do it on an airfield!

We’re going to tie it in with a bit of a season closing party and open day where you can ride in a sidecar or even get behind the handlebars for a bit of a taster of what it’s like to ride one too!

So, on 26th October, you’re invited to a one-of-a-kind season closing party at Tranwell Airfield, Morpeth and then our unit.

We, Matt and Reece, will be continuously lapping the airfield in reverse on a Ural Motorcycle (for roughly 10-12 hours), while our awesome team of guides will be available to give you a ride or show you how to ride a sidecar. We’ll also have our sidecar coffee machine onsite for refreshments and then we will host a bit of an after party back at the unit with a couple of celebratory beers when we have reversed our way into the record books.

Times - ticket holders are welcome to all

7am – 7pm – Watch us go backwards for as long as you like.

8am – Sidecar Coffee machine opens

9am – Sidecar Passenger and Rider experiences begin

7:30pm – Celebration back at the unit starts.

9:30 - Event closes.

Spectator ticket - £5

This gets you entry to the airfield to watch our ridiculous attempt at the longest ever reverse motorcycle journey and entry to the after party at our unit too.

Spectator ticket plus crowdfunder entry - £15

This gets you entry plus an entry into the competition to win a brand new Ural and this months star prize in the crowdfunder.

Passenger ticket - £35 – Only 25 places available!

This gets you entry to the party, an three entries into the crowdfunder and a 25 minute blast around the Northumberland countryside in the passenger seat of a sidecar.

Rider ticket - £45 – only 16 places available!

This gets you entry to the party, three entires into the crowdfunder and a one-hour intro on how to ride a sidecar! You’ll get a basic intro into sidecar riding with a private guide and even get a chance at reversing a Ural motorcycle too! (Must have a full motorcycle license and be over 25).

The challenge

In 1992, Vladimir Glukhikh of Irbit, Russia, reversed 171 km and 200 metres to set the longest ever reverse on a motorcycle and sidecar. It took him just over eight hours to do. We will be attempting to be this mighty record that has stood for more than 30 years! With our dodgy old airfield and low level of reverse experience we expect this to take us more like 12 hours so we’ll be kicking off the challenge at 7am and reversing until we’ve broken the record!
